Truchas is a largely untouched hispanic village of adobe homes and small shops (tiendes). It was the site for the filming of Robert Redford's "The Milagro Beanfield War".

To reach Truchas, turn onto SR 76 from Hwy 68 in Espanola. The road will take you through Chimayo and through Cordova, a village knows for woodworking. The road climbs up to Truchas giving you beautiful views of Mt. Truchas. SR 76 makes a sharp turn to the right, but first continue strait to see the the village.
Truchas Peak, elevation 13,101 feet is the second highest in the state.

You come upon the village after the road climbs from Cordova along SR 76.
